It looks like the -L flag is not supported when using the "immediate-manual"
backup form ("-i") of the command.  If you're using the user-backup form,
it'll log each file that's moved.

I've checked on both the v3.4 and v4.5 version man pages.  In testing, I've
seen only the "started" line that you posted earlier.

When i preform a bpbackup -p <policy> -s <sched> -i -h <host> -t 0 -w 0 -L
<log_file>
the only thing that shows up in the log file is "Backup started Fri Nov 1
08:35:26 2002"

Is this a feature??
