HI,
I would tend to agree with that, but the backups are actually performed
through a Fibre Switch, and thus not even going through a Network, as the
Arrays are going through the same Switch.

The problem most definitely started after recreating the partition and
restoring the Data. I should point out the NT Operating System was
unchanged, and there was no need to restore this.

Everything has been checked and re-checked! Yet it is still a mystery to me
:(

For what it's worth, everytime we see one of our NT/W2K servers go into slow
mode the first thing we check is the network settings. Everything must be
checked, NIC settings, switch settings, router settings, in short,
everywhere that piece of wire goes must be investigated. We have invariably
found somewhere along the way settings that don't match,ie, NIC at 100/full,
switch at 100/half. Don't forget the condition of the wire either, a cable
that rings out may still have a problem.

Hello,
I have a question regarding our current Backup throughput to one of our most
critical Windows NT Servers.
Prior to a hardware failure on our Server, we were getting approx 4.5MB a
second on backups within a stream.

We had a hardware failure with a Compaq Array 4000. Our Data was spread
across 2 of these Compaq Arrays.
We recreated the NT Partition and restored the Data.

Now, we are unable to get any good backups, and throughput has been reduced
from 4.5MB to 100k/second. Sometimes if we are lucky in the evenings, we get
422k/Second.

On all our other backups, through put is exactly the same. It is only
focused on the Server that had the disaster! I am at a complete loss as to
what the actual problem is!

Has anyone ever come across this problem or seen anything like it? If anyone
has any tips, please tell me! I am happy to call you and give further
details if required!

Thanks
