I've got it. Suspend the tape after the backup is complete. This'll
prevent additional backups from writing to the tape but the tape will expire
and become available normally.

Well all I wanted to do was ensure our weekly backup was using just 1 single
tape in every instance.
Today, it started to use the remaining space on the tape from last week,
before using a new one!

That was the purpose of doing it.

You can't easily reassign the pool for a tape that has data on it.
Officially it's not supposed to be possible.
What's your intent? I've got critical backups where I don't want
alternating nights sharing tapes and I've done it with two schedules, one
with a different pool than the other. This might be an option.

Hi guys
I just wanted to verify something......
We use LTO Tapes. I have a Backup Policy that does a Full Backup on an NT
Client.
This tape comes from the Scratch Pool and into its defined Volume Pool I
created.
The backup is successful.
The Following week, I want to use a new blank tape for the Full Backup.
If I move the previous Full Backup Tape out of its defined Volume Pool, and
place it in the NONE pool, is there any consequences that I should be aware
of? For example, if the tape is moved out of its own volume pool into NONE,
will I lose Database information regarding the Data on this Tape?
I don't believe you do, but I would like it clarified.
Also, I am getting a lot of Status 84 error messages, a lot more than
normal. 10 LTO Tapes are coming back with Media Write Errors. Is there
anything I can do to try to troubleshoot this? I have cleaned all the drives

twice now.
Thank you all.
