Is there any other advantage to converting your catalogues to binary, other
than the compression??  is it necessary to do that or can you keep that the
way it is??

The upgrade was a cake-walk.  Only gotcha is to be aware of what options
you have installed (NDMP in my case) and make sure you re-install them
as part of the upgrade.  I also did not convert my catalogues to binary
so that part I haven't experienced.

Otherwise it works as advertised.
