Right.

I have 2 sites a DR site and a production site running Netbackup 3.2GA on
solaris 8. I have a L1000 tape unit.

I have backed up the Netbackup dbs to disk on the production site and ftped
them to my dr site.
Dr site backup server is called dbs1 and production site backup server is
called pbs1.

I have taken 2 tapes from the production site and put them into the dr site
and I want to restore from these to a machine on the dr site. I want to make
the dr site read the Netbackup dbs from production site so it knows what
images are on the 2 tapes I have put in the dr site jukebox.

what I have done so far is :-

stopped the Netbackup daemons
ran bprecover -r -dhost dbs1 -dpath /usr/Netbackup/prodcutiondbs

now I can start and launch Netbackup and it thinks its pbs1 and lists all
the tapes which are actually in the production site but are not physically
in the dr site jukebox. to sync what's in the jukebox with what Netbackup
thinks I run

vmupdate -x -rn 0 -rt tld -rh `uname -n` -vh `uname -n` -use_barcode_rules

It lists all the changes to do but when it tries to sync up it comes up with
the following error:-

Change residence failed for DBQ845
robot number and robot host mismatch (61)

DBQ845 is first in the list to change, and is actually a tape from the
prodcution site. The rest of the tapes are DDJ something. Im not sure if its
this tape causing the problem or just coincidence its first in the list. But
I also did this:-

bpmedia -movedb -ev DBQ845 -newserver dbs1 -oldserver pbs1 and that exits 0
ok.

So I tried going into Netbackup and going to the Netbackup Admin icon,
storage unit and changing that to be dbs1 where it now reads pbs1. I also
went to Device management icon, and went to update robot, put the number in
which is 0 and renamed that to dbs1 and changed the device path to
/dev/sg/c2t0l0 ( which is the physical robot path on Dr site ) as it had the
path from production site which is /dev/sg/c3t0l0.

I still get the same error though.

Anyone any idea? Do I try and make Netbackup think its dbs1 again or leave
it as pbs1 after recovering the databases? Im not sure

Thanks.

Dave
