I have a question: what is the timeout for a backup which is waiting for
the kickoff script to complete?

We are backing up db2 and in the "files" tab of the class I specify a
shellscript which does some decision making and then fires off ANOTHER
shellscript which shuts down the database and then runs a db2backup
command.

Now, it turns out that the database (DB2) that has a hard time shutting
down and kicking all the users off, and the DBAs were wondering how long
netbackup would wait to see some activity before it gave up and errored
out?

Is this something configurable in bp.conf?
