Hi everyone,

We are currently looking to purchase a new tape library. We have narrowed
it down to a Storage Tek L180, ADIC Scalar 1000, and Quantum M2500. IBM has
been in contact with us as well. From my understanding ADIC is the
manufacturer of the IBM libraries. I want to avoid paying a premium for
someone's logo on a library manufactured by another. I would like to get
your thoughts about these libraries if you have the time/patience to reply
to such a request. We are interested in durability/reliability of the
robotics and the library in general as well as service/support. We are
also considering moving towards LTO instead of Super DLT. We have been
informed that superdlt is currently going through some growing pains that
LTO has already went through for the most part. We are currently using a
Sun ETL/1000 with four DLT7000 drives. We are very impressed with the STK's
ability to have mixed media and drives in the same library. We would like
to keep one DLT drive around for restore purposes. Thanks in advance for
any comments or suggestions.
