        A nice side-benefit of backing up via NFS, BTW, is that the backup
isn't lost if the NFS server crashes (and then reboots) during the
backup.

        A regular client-type backup would have to start from square 1
again, whereas the NFS client just hangs until the server is back
up again and then continues where it left off. Having this sort of
"recoverability" could make the difference between being inside /
outside
the backup window.

        HOWEVER, files / dirs can be missed by this method (e.g.
if they were chmod 0'd to "hide" them) where a regular client backup
would still "see" them.  No free lunch, in other words ...
