Hey,
I've setup Netbackup servers in the past, but am trying to
configure a new install with VCS 2.0. When I was running through my
netbackup master server install last week, I was asked if the physical
hostname (host1, in this example) was the correct hostname for the master
server. I replied that I was on float1, and I think netbackup did a
non-master (media server) install. The install finished, but did not ask
the usual questions when installing a master server (start NBU processes,
index files, default indexing level, etc.) Is there a way that I can get
the install to change the default hostname to be float1 vs. host1 ?
Are there any internet resources available that discuss failover
server installation instructions, and best practices for this kind of
install ? One question I had was about media servers. I setup my master
server to float between two media servers. I redirected all of the
/opt/openv file systems except /opt/openv/volmgr to a floating file system
(/nbu1-home) that moves between two servers. The floating hostname also
moves with the file system via VCS. When /nbu1-home mounts on the host2,
it will mount over the local file system of the media server. I'm trying
to decide if I need to install a local media server on host1, since I do
not expect NBU to be failedover unless host1 is physically down. Any
other suggestions are welcome. We are running NBU 3.4.3 on two Sun 420R
Solaris 8 servers
Thanks, Aubrey
