bpimagelist -class <classname> -d 01/01/2002 | awk '$1=="FRAG" {print $9}' |
sort -u
This'll give you all the tapes used by "classname" since the "-d" date,
adjust it for your retention levels. Pipe to "wc -l" if you just need a
count.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Tape Usage?
What is the best way to figure out how many tapes are used for a single
class if you have a pretty decent size environment running multiple classes
and duplicating most classes per night? I am attempting to do some math and
project how many tapes we will need at different retention periods and
haven't come up with a very good way to do this yet.
Thank you in advance for your help,
