In the restore gui, you can select different parts of the System state =
for restoration. One of these parts is named Active Directory. Whether =
or not it would function after the restore is a different question......

AD consists of:
ntds.dit
edb.chk
edb*.log
res1.log and res2.log

But when I look on one of my AD servers, not all these files are listed =
under the Active Directory branch of the system state backup.
In addition, my guess is that you would have to restore at least some =
parts of the registry, (kerberos?), KMS and DNS services in order for AD =
to function. In fact, the more I think about it, the more I think you =
would need to restore the entire system state (or most of it) to get it =
to function.
