Just had a similar problem with 3100 bridges on a Connectrix. In this
scenario, after booting the servers, the systems would find the drives in a
different order. The fix was to edit the st.conf and define/bind the drives
to the fcport. On W2k systems, using lputil, turning off the "auto find"
(?) process fixed it on those servers. After removing and redefining all
tape drives on the media servers, the problem was fixed.

If you're sure that you st.conf is correct, then maybe you can mount a tape
in a drive with robtest and test it with a tar or dd command ?
Maybe there a confusion in the order of your drives.

st.conf is correct on both solaris boxes, sgscan can see the drives as
well.
The swithes are Mcdata 32 and 64 ports, the clients are actually hooked
into
connectrix 32 port, but for the SDLT, it goes through a crossroads 3250
bridge
HBA: on the 2.8 box, Emulex LP800 4.2k
on the 2.6 box, JNI:FCI-1063 2.5.9

I'm having trouble getting SSO backups to work on Solaris machines with
tapes on the SAN. Here's the setup:
One Unix Master Server, attached to STK L700
Two Solaris media servers 2.8 and 2.6
Win2k Media server.
The Win2k server backups up fine he can see an SDLT drive and a 9940 on the
SAN. The 2.6 machine sees 2 SDLT drives on the SAN. The 2.8 machine sees a
9940 Driver on the SAN. When I try to run the backup it gets to a point
where it tries to mount the tape and puts the tape in the drive, but after
that , nothing. Anyone have any ideas?
