I wish there was something slightly better, but there doesn't seem to
be.  I found that the best way to tackle it was to:

1)  Familiarize yourself with the path that netbackup processes
take.  (Read the troubleshooting guide).

2)  RTFM the man pages.  

3)  Use the GUI for a little while and check the netbackup log files to
find out which CLI commands are fired off by the GUI process.  

The best part is that after looking at the logs for awhile, you'll find
that most of the useful command arguments that the GUI fires off aren't
documented in the man pages.
