Hi!
I want to use IDR on an Win NT Client.
Server is Solaris 8.
Server and Client are Version 34_2.
Since I must backup through a firewall I set up Server and Client to use
NON_RESERVED_PORTS = 4800 5000 and ALLOW_NONRESERVED_PORTS. Firewall is
currently configured to allow ALL traffic for testing.
bpclient -client xxxxx -add -use_nr_..... 1 is set, too.
The backup itself works fine. But it seems that after the backup is finished
the server wants to fetch the IDR Info. And then I see connections on the
firewall coming from the client to a _RESERVED_ port on the server.
And then I get logentries like
bpbrm/log.122001:15:56:46 [20738] <16> bpbrm handle_backup: collection of
disaster recovery information failed - cannot connect on socket
And the backup ends with status one. It seems that the server doesn't accept
these connections since the client is configured for NONRESERVED PORTS. But the
client shouldn't use lowports anyway;-)
If I configure everything to use RESERVER_PORTS it works pretty fine.
Any suggestions?

Wolfgang Breyha
