[Veritas-bu] bpduplicate
2001-10-18 11:08:45
This is the command that I executed:
bpduplicate -dstunit <storage_unit> -dp <pool_name> -Bidfile
<file_containing_backupids>
I prefer not to use multiplexing in the duplication. How long does the
duplication
usually take, I assume it should complete at a similar speed as either a
backup
or a restore?

You didn't specify what options you are using with bpduplicate. Speed can be
increased significantly using the '-mpx' option. The only (slight) drawback
is that your duplicate remains in the multiplexed tape format, which isn't
really a bad problem at all. Just always keep current copies of your NBU
database offsite.

Hi All,
I've been trying to duplicate backups using bpduplicate.
And everytime it takes over an hour for it to duplicate
10-20 MB of data. I am using NBU 3.4.1 on W2K and a Spectralogic
12K with 2 drives. The library is directly connected to
the server via SCSI.
Any suggestions on how to speed up the performance of
bpduplicate will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Don
