Most likely this is a resolution problem. It could be from your server or
client.

Ensure nslookup on the client works for the server both by name and ip.
Then do the same from the server. Even though the backup and restore from
the server work fine, it could be a case where the tcpip config on the
client is sending the server a name or ip it cannot resolve.

If the server is dual NIC, make sure that the IP of the NIC resolves to
the same name used by the server in your client's configure tab.

Use nslookup or ping in case you are not familiar with the commands.
