We also have STK 9710 (574 slots, 5 DLT 7000), and we defined it to be
cleaned when needed, so the robot takes care of it. This was a very
clear recommendation of our H/W support.

We had the same problem a couple of months ago, and it is impossible to
know which drive does it, not even with the robot tests that the
technicians ran.

In any case the problem disappeared by itself after finishing a good
number of tapes. Our support suspects some of our tapes cause it.
