To All
We are running netbackup 3.4 on a Unix platform with 2 media servers and 1
master, both media servers have
a STK 9710 robot attached with 6 DLT 7000 tape drives & about 406 tapes per
robot. Are clients (112) are Unix
HP's & SUN's, NT 4.0 and win2000. Our current load requires about 12 hours
nightly to complete our backups using
both robots over a dictated 100mb cat5 Ethernet network.
My question is how are most folks cleaning there DTL drives ? are you
configured for Veritas to do it or are you allowing STK to clean when required
?. Are problem lately is one robot is cleaning about 16 times per night, we
currently have
STK do the cleaning so we have no visibility on which drive or drives are
making the request. We don't see any tape
media error in the logs, we remove tape with 100 mount or more, we don't see
any patterns with the media. The drives
don't ever go down so we get no messages with any drive problems. This behavior
is new are typical over night
cleaning is about 4 - 5 times per night are typical total bytes we backup per
week is about 3TB. Can anyone share
some experience, thanks
