I have had this problem, and am still having this problem. I have even had
Veritas on site to examine this issue. What they tell me is that it's not
their problem, and get a MS expert/engineer to examine the system on which
this is happenening as it could be caused by bad hardware or bad software
(essentially this could be caused by anything). I now have three machines
that I cannot backup properly with netBackup because of this, and it is very
annoying that I cannot get this to be resolve nor get someone who can tell
me what's actually wrong. I have not been able to isolate the problem to any
particular size, and given file, or anything really.

As a work around, the clients having the problem are now in a separate class
on their own, with Jobs per Class = 1 and Allow Multiple Data Streams
enabled. This causes the machine to back up each partition individually and
write only one partition to tape at a time. This is a very suboptimal
solution but it at least allows us to get complete backups until we can
discover the root of the problem.
