Problem solved. Was an issue with Compaq HBAs not being compatible with
StorageTeks SCSI to Fibre Bridge. Dropped in a Qlogic card and all is good.
Gotta love fibre, really gotta love Compaq.

Having some strange errors with media. We are demoing a new robot (stk L80
dlt7000) and are using both new never used media and some expired media. One
job successfully backs up to a tape then the next time a job tries to write
to that same tape we get an error then the thing is frozen. The only way to
write to it again is to unfreeze it then expire it. I've gone as far as
erasing it in a Backup Exec machine to make sure the thing was write able
and sure enough on the second attempt to write to it we get another error.
Here is the error:

bptm tapemark or blank tape encountered reading media header, drive index 4
bptm non NetBackup media found in drive index 4, FREEZING DXO446

Again this has happened with multiple tapes. Same issue same errors.
