NBU does control an STK9740 without ACSLS, unless you have more than one
STK9740 bolted together using pass-thru for tapes. If you are able to
remove ACSLS, it would greatly simplify life.

We had ACSLS in our original setup, but I'm told the Veritas engineers who
came in to fix the whole thing disabled it.

In any case we've been running without ACSLS for the past 4 months,
just using NBU 3.4 on Solaris 2.6 to control a StorageTek L700 with 4 DLT
drives.

I've heard through the grapevine and from the NBU training instructor
I had that NBU can control the StorageTek hardware through a NBU
driver, rather than passing the requests off to ACSLS.

Anyone have experience with this?

Our master is Solaris. We are running NBU 3.2 right now, but plan to
implement 3.4 + vault + NDMP and I'd like to hear some thoughts on
whether or not to use ACSLS.

Thanks,

There is no luck except where there is discipline.
