Are you planning to use scsi over IP or FC?  If FC,
are you using DWDMs/Link Extenders?  There are a lot of
factors that will play a part, even things such as
multimode fibre, microns and loss factor.

If IP, are you using protocol converters to encapsulate
the FC packets over T3 lines?  What's the latency etc.,

OK, the point is, I wish it were that simple as we can
estimate the timeouts.  Unless, you run initial tests,
there is no way to estimate these, in my opinion.  HTH.
