If you are refering to a restore operation, it will wait, though I can't
remember if there is a timeout (or how long if there is).

This command worked perfectly. I was able to obtain the backupid and using
that, change the retention period. The default for a formatted report is
apparently 20 characters. Thanks. Now I should be able to move those tapes
to a storage pool that resides outside the library and eject the tapes. You
don't happen to know if NetBackup will ask for a tape if it's outside and
wait for the insertion or do I have to insert the tape in the library before
I ask for it?
Regards,
Dennis

Try the lower case l option for the unformatted output (bpimmedia -l
-mediaid xxxxxx).

I am not sure if this would work for you [since my backup ids aren't that
long I cannot really test it]
# bpimmedia -L -media vsn | awk '{print $1}'
If that doesn't give you the full output of your backup_ids, I suggest
contacting support, unless someone
else on the list has a solution
