There is a patch for version 3.4 to correct problems with bpbackup. I ran
into problems with 3.4 using -w and bpbackup and you can manually correct
the problem by making sure that you have an additional command line option
after the -w option. i.e. bpbackup -c class -w 03:00 -L /tmp/log
file_to_backup as opposed to having bpbackup -c class -L /tmp/log -w 03:00
file_to_backup

I'm using multiple data streams with media multiplexing. Apparently -w is
not reliable.

But if i use -L

I should be able to monitor the file to check for:
Client completed sending data for backup

Then what i can do is use /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/bperror to
check for errors.

What i'm doing is writing a backup script to make sure that the Progress
Database servers are down, backup the system, check to make sure the
backup was successful and startup all the databases. Then i must jump to
another server and do the same.

Fun eh?

well there are several ways. Are you looking to
automate this?

bpdbjobs has several ways to viewing if a job is
complete.

The notify scripts will do "something" when a job
finishes. That something is up to you, if you want an
email or update a file, etc.

ofcourse there's always echo $? for the status of the
last command (in this case bpbackup)
