Further investigation reveals I've gotten a few increases in the .f files
within a few of the client backup days over the last month of two.  An
example is a full backup on a Solaris server normally takes up 60 MB within
the database to up to 475/500 MB.  This has happened a few times.

I have a suspicion it may be the /usr/openv/netbackup/db/error/* directory
which is the culprit.  Unfortunately I am not a god with this yet.  Do
you/anyone know how I can browse the .f file to get a listing of what is in
there.. and if it is a tar or compression of some sort, can I remove data
from it?

What about including /usr/openv/netbackup/db/images/<backup server>
in NetBackup database backups, excluding the other backup clients.
Use regular backups for the other backup client databases.  To perform
a recovery, use bprecover to restore the server.  Then use regular
restore to bring back other backup client databases.

Hey all,
 
 I'm starting to run into trouble with the NetBackup DB occupying too much
space and the independant tape drive will not contain all of the
information.  One option I was considering was removing some old client
backups from one Volume group.  Unfortunately I'm not sure if that is
possible from what reading I have done.  Can this be done or are there
alternatives?
