Veritas Sales was very helpful in generating license keys for copies of
NetBackup
that we purchased two years back. In some cases, we had to bridge the
maintenance
to get the new license keys.

James,
If you have purchased all the licenses under a previous version of NetBackup
and you are currently under maintenance, then you are intitled to the
license keys to enable everything that you have purchased. I would
recommend talking to the VERITAS Sales Rep in your area, or calling the
Support # and transferring to the license key department.

I only received the base license key with my 3.4 software. Does this mean I
need to invest in license keys for each client now - even though I already
purchased RTU licenses for all my clients when I was using NBU 3.1 and 3.2
???

James,
It means, in order to do the upgrade it will ask you for the 'base license
key' for the Master Server. Once the upgrade of the Master is done, you
will need to install the other keys for clients, database agents, etc. in
order to successfully accomplish backups. You should have a license key
that enables all your clients (or maybe several). i.e. if you have a 100
clients, you could have a single key that activates 100 clients.

Does this mean I don't need to have RTU licenses for each client?

Quoting "David A. Chapa"

You do need your license keys, yes. It will ask for
them when you do the upgrade (server only).

Quoting "Collins, Kathy" <KCollins AT coral-energy DOT com>:

> Did you guys upgrade just your server, or clients as
well?

> Thanks
