I have tried this procedure and it skips two the second file on the tape and
does not go to the first record.

Any other ideas.

My suggestion:  set TAPE=/dev/rmt/1n
                  mt rew        (rewind)
                  mt fsf 1      (advance to first file)
                  mt fsr 1      (advance to first record)
/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/tar -tvf /dev/rmt/1n

I'm trying to perform a restore using gnu tar I can see the header which has
just the media id in it. When I try to restore I get the following message
and no data returned

tar -tvf /dev/rmt/1n
Blocksize = 2 records
Hmm, this doesn't look like a tar archive
Skipping to next header

I try this again with the same results
