I add exactly the same error yesterday
In my case, a NFS filesystem has been mounted on /mnt and disconnected
without unmounting it.
The system hanged on /mnt when I tried to read it.
It's strange because there was nothing in the mnttab related to /mnt.

I rebooted the server to solve the pb but maybe there is another solution
