When NBU looks for a storage unit, it does so by alpha/numeric order, i.e.
LIB1 is used before LIB2. Since the problem that prompted you to get the
additional storage unit is lack of media as opposed to insufficient drive
resources, I would say that LIB1 always has available drives and therefore
is the only one being used-this is assuming that your backups are set to
acquire any available storage unit. The fix here would be to just specify
using the second unit on a few classes, distribute the workload between the
two units.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] library not being used
NetBackup 3.2 on Sun Solaris 2.6.
We've been running backups to a Qualstar 6460 (4 DLT7000
drives, 60
tapes). We recently added a Qualstar 6220 (1 DLT7000, 20
tapes) because
we were filling all of our tapes before the retention period
expired
images (we're down to 1 month for fulls).
I'm trying to get a larger library, but until then, I've got
a problem.
The second, small library is not being used.
Both libraries are connect directly to our master server.
The backups are
set to use any available storage unit. The tapes in both
are in the same
pool. Device manager can see both libraries and all five
drives. Media
manager can see 60+20 tapes.
What in the world am I missing? Where should I begin to
look?
Thanks,
-Adam
