Hi,
        NetBackup when using NDMP is the limiting factor here. Right now,
        NetBackup requires tape drives to be directly attached to a
        filer, since it only supports backing up a filer to a locally
        attached drive, or one filer to another filer's locally attached
        drive when employing NDMP. Many customers have asked for NetBackup
        to support backing up data via NDMP to tape devices attached to
        a Media Server. This requires more changes to NetBackup. NetApp
        and VERITAS are working on supplying this functionality in a future
        release of NetBackup. If you need more info, you should talk to
        VERITAS, since I'm not at liberty to provide their product plans
        or timescales.

My experience with the Netapp filer leads me to say that no, you can't do
this.  If you're using NDMP, you have to use direct attached drives/library.
NFS would be the way to go if not able to use NDMP.  Of course, I could be
wrong, but our Veritas reps have indicated that if we don't want to use
NDMP, the only way to get backups in is via NFS or CIFS.
