Very true, hence using a combo of vm commands and tldtest to move mass
amounts of media in ONE script is a pretty cool thing.
Just so long as one remembers that tldtest doesn't change the state of the
database logically.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Importing/Exporting tapes: vmchange and vmupdate
Thanks to Ryan Anderson's 'tpeject' script and other posting here, I've
learned the following:
TO EJECT A TAPE: vmchange -res -e -m [mediaID] -mt [mediaType]
TO IMPORT TAPES FROM THE CAP:
vmupdate -empty_ie -rn [rob#] -rt [robType] -rh [robHost]
-vh [volHost]
("-empty_ie" ---> empty import/export)
For example, assume robot 3 hangs off host MHOST2, is a TLD-type robot, and
the media/volume database is on BHOST1.
To import all tapes in robot 3's CAP:
vmupdate -empty_ie -rn 3 -rt tld -rh MHOST2 -vh BHOST1
To export/eject DLT tape BK0012:
vmchange -res -e -m BK0012 -mt dlt
One note on 'vmchange' and the '-e' option, I've learned that it will only
eject one tape at a time and prompts for an acknowledgement (ie. a RETURN)
after ejecting a tape. If you want to script things, you'll need to take
this into account.
