        Hi ,

We implement this kind of configuration with NT server :3.4 Datacenter, and
we have same troubles .

We look at the log's firewall , and open a lot a TCP port and all seems to
be good , but

there is really a lot of open port , so we ask Veritas about some rules to
apply , and we're

waiting for...

If anybody try this before...

Fabrice

Objet : [Veritas-bu] firewall between master and media servers

we recently added a second media server on the other side of a firewall as
our master server. i've followed the directions specified in a particular
Server and Client Connections paper we received from Veritas directly, but
we've had little luck in actually getting it to work thus far.

the master and media servers are both running solaris 2.6 ... and can talk
with each other via firewall rules - but that's about it. netbackup exits
with some funky errors, from 219 (storage unit unavail) to griping about
not being able to connect to the firewall machine. bpcd logs have yielded
little more.

i know this is a bit vague, but i was just curious if anyone else out there
has a firewall somewhere in their setup and knows a few tips or tricks to
get things up and rocking.

thanks much in advance,
-ian
