[Veritas-bu] \Excluding Compaq's System

Sorry this took a few days... I got a little behind on the list, but it looks
like no one else has answered yet.

System State backups are new to Windows 2000.  This is not Compaq's system
partition.

You need to back this up.  If you do not, you will not be able to recover the
machine.  System State backups include things such as protected files, boot
files, the registry and the COM+ class registration database.  If you just
include the drives (e.g. C:\) in the file list, you will not get these
components.

If you are experiencing hangs with Windows 2000 and SP1, it is probably the
same problem I had.  The backup was causing the WINLOGON process to consume
all of the CPU and hang the machine.  Microsoft "enhanced"  winlogon.exe in
SP1.  NetBackup's code did not work well with this "enhancement".  There is
an updated bpbkar32.exe that fixes this.  It is my understanding that it is
supposed to be included in the next patch.

   Hi Folks,

   Here's the setup of the current enviroment:
   Master Server: Windows 2000+SP1, with Netbackup 3.4 Datacenter
   Client       : Windows 2000+SP1

   I have a couple Clients on Compaq boxes.

   Whenever I use the ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES directive in the file list, Netbackup
   tries to backup a partition System_Status:\, this I beleive is Compaq's
   partition for whatever reason they have it.

   This stream starts , but then hangs after some time and never completes.

   I tried to exclude it using all the number of combinations I can think of
   without luck.

   Any ideas ?.
