James,

Since the NBU DB backup uses a different format on the tape, you cannot use
those media for regular backups because of a protection mechanism in NBU.

You were correct in using bpexpdate and vmdelete, however, there is one more
step you must perform.

You must bplabel the media to reset the header on the media so that NBU does not
think there is NBU DB info on the tape.

Check out the NBU SAG for info on bplabel, or just do bplabel -help.
