Becki:
It sounds like you are attempting to perform a User
Directed backup from a client machine. Which would
give you that error message.
There are different types of schedules, Full, Diff
Incr, Cumulative Incr, User and Archive. Full,
Diff/Cumulative Incr. are automated schedules that
NetBackup will manage internally. The User and Archive
schedules are 'windows' that you as the administrator
open up for users to direct their own backups and/or
archives.
I am assuming you have created either a Full or Incrm
schedule within your class. To test this class
configuration, perform a manual backup. If you are
using the motif interface (xbpadm) it would be under
the Actions Menu (page 271 in the NB Admin Guide).
With regard to your st.conf configuration...there are
some recommendations in the manual as well as in
/usr/openv/volmgr/dev_config_guide.txt. However, your
mileage may vary and it is best to review the man page
on st.conf and the drive configuration manual. I have
found that there are opinions across the board on this
one.
Good Luck-
