[Veritas-bu] old tapes are not expired.

Tapes will not become empty until ALL images on them have expired. My guess
is that most of the tapes still have at least one image that has not
expired. You might want to use duplication to copy active images to one or
more tapes, then expire the old tapes.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] old tapes are not expired.
Hello,
Some time ago we had to switch expiration time on most of
our backups to infinity
To do that we used:
# bpexpdate -recalculate
command. Now we have some of our backups expired
We did it using:
# bpexpdate -backupid .. -d 0
command. We expired up 60 % of all old backups
which we switched to infinity expiration and we've got
no tapes expired. All of then are still full.
We are expecting 100-200 expired tapes.
Last time we had this situation Veritas suggested us
to use
# vmquery -deassignbyid
command. We can't use it now becouse we still
have to keep some backups and can't deassign
tapes based on time when they were written.
What can we do to make NetBackup check
expired tapes?
- The latest patch was applied.
- bptm -delete_expired doesn't help.
Thanks,
