First off you should only have one vmd process, there may be a problem
there.
Second, how many network interfaces does that system have?
Third check to make sure that the /etc/services and the /etc/inetd.conf
files are correct
reference those of other machines. Reinstall the latest Jumbo patch on that
particular server.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] URGENT: VMD won't respond!
Hi,
I am having a hell of a time trying to get vmd to work. I can't seem to
connect to the slave via telnet to vmd port. here is what I get when I try
telnet:
# telnet firebird45 vmd
Trying...
telnet: connect to address 162.49.67.46: Connection refused
Trying 162.49.67.45...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
When I do :
# netstat -a | grep vmd
tcp 0 0 *.vmd *.* LISTEN
#
When I start the MM manager processes, there are two vmd processes spawned.
I am thinking this is coz I have two drive on the slave?
# bpps -a
