Ah, I see.  There is no mechanism to inform the NetApp of what to exclude.

So if I want to exclude that volume have to explicitly specify the ones I do 
want to back up instead of using "All" it appears.

That does not surprise as there is no client installed that could assist here.

With NDMP you only have the choice to move the unwanted files/directories to an 
alternate path which is not in a subdirectory of the filesystem to backup.
