I thought about authentication, but the Bluearc backups have saveset to All and 
it is getting the list of volumes from it, just not backing it up, which means 
it is connecting to it.

Have not looked into NDMP backups for a while but could it just be that the 
authentication fails?
Remember that there is no NW client software running on the filers which can 
generate self-signed certificates.
In this case i guess you must whith authentication method to oldauth.

The manuals should provide more info.
