Any idea why it needs to be a separate pool or why it should be an
adv_file device? Generally I would want a good justification to set up
any new pool, not just functional separation of backups. I can't think
of any reason why you would need adv_file rather than any other type of
device.

Who is recommending this? EMC or NetApp?
