Check with Chapter 2 of the NetWorker Software Compatibility Guide
(NetWorker_SCG.pdf), at it's very top, currently on page 9, it shows several
NetWorker Clients which will all work with any higher version within four full
versions of their NetWorker Server (within is including the version the
NetWorker version is at); also NetWorker Storage Nodes should be at the same
version as NetWorker Server. That is to say that a NetWorker Server at version
8 will support a NetWorker Client at version 7.5 but not 7.4 or lower; however,
I had a NetWorker Client at 7.1 that was saving to a NetWorker Storage Node at
version 7.6.3 where the NetWorker Server is also at version 7.6.3, so the
tautological graph may just be EMC's "support" matrix where NetWorker Clients
and NetWorker Storage Nodes are in relation to their NetWorker Server that EMC
will support, and as the NetWorker Client footnote states:
2 The NetWorker Client is recommended to be the same version as NetWorker
Server; if not, certain features may not work
Recommended does not imply failure to function, just that "certain
features" may not work
