Can you ping the client from the server, both by name and by IP address? 
Usually, probe job failures indicate that the client is unreachable, or 
the NW services aren't running on the client, or similar. The server 
couldn't tell the client to start the job, so nothing happened.

The index comes from the server, so it a separate aspect of the job.
