you are pretty detailed. Unfortunately, your info is somehow incomplete. Please
let me clarify the missing link:
- The recycle option "Manual" is not a device attribute - it is a volume
attribute.
This means that you cannot set it for a device but when you label the media
at the earliest point in time.
- As it is a volume attribute, you must unmount it before you can change it.
- By default, this is set to "Automatic" - for all media.
- There in fact is a bug in NW 7.6.1. It will set the attribute to "Manual" by
default - but exclusively if you use the "New Device Wizard" which labels the
media without prompting to confirm this attribute. If you use the
'old-fashioned' method to label the the volume in a separate step, then this
bug will not show.
- This bug has obviously been corrected in NW 7.6.1.7, the latest update
