This usually happens with Linux that use DHCP (sometimes with broken NICs which flap when you ifconfig up them, Cisco switches and spanning tree). If you check hostname on your Networker server it will probably return localhost which means it failed to get DHCP response on time. So, your options are:

. Move to static IP (BOOTPROTO=static in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0).

. If your NIC is faulty, define spanning-tree portfast on your interface.

. It might also be that your DHCP was not responding when your Networker server booted.

All of our backups are failing with the message:

* helios:index 5777:save: Cannot open save session with apollo

      *<ERROR> : Failed with error(s)

Only the index is failing to back up. The rest of the savesets backup fine.

I've cleared the nsr\tmp directory and the jobsdb directories and rebooted the
server but that didn't help.

Anybody have a clue how to fix that?
