I have seen this before with our Data Domain backup device and it has been a 
rights issue. Could be something to consider anyway.   You may have to input a 
username and password on the device to connect and use that same user and 
password on the configuration of the device in Networker on the Configuration 
Tab.

We use AFTDs with our Data Domain and it works both as an IP or DNS name.

AFAIK this is possible ... if you use the UNC naming convention but not a
