[Networker] Macromedia flash directory names in user profiles error
2011-05-03 12:20:11
Hi All,
I have had a major problem over the last few months of a
Networker/powersnap file server backup failing for some unknown reason.
I think I have finally tracked it down to be an issue with windows user
profiles and Macromedia flash internet cache data.
In the user profile, Macromedia flash creates a directory for some of
the websites that it has used. If the web address is incorrectly input
it can force the directory path to include a . (dot) at the end of the
directory name. Note: You can type in http://www.bbc.co.uk....../
(multiple dots) in mozilla firefox and one dot suffix in IE
Do any of you believe this is an error of the URL protocol or is flash
the culprit because it over-rides the OS default of not allowing hte
directory with a . suffix to be created?
e.g.
Here are the error messages shown below
cannot opendir "." (X:\Data\Home\username\TSProfile\Application
Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\QXXHJCDU\www.ecb.int.\): No
such file or directory
cannot opendir "." (X:\Data\Home\username\TSProfile\Application
Data\Macromedia\Flash
Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\#www.ecb.int.\): No such
file or directory
cannot opendir "." (X:\Data\Home\username\TSProfile\Application
Data\Macromedia\Flash
Player\#SharedObjects\JBZ2C7MW\www.hossintropia.com.\): No such file or
directory
cannot opendir "." (X:\Data\Home\username\TSProfile\Application
Data\Macromedia\Flash
Player\macromedia.com\support\flashplayer\sys\#www.hossintropia.com.\):
No such file or directory
This is an unsupported way of naming directories and thus causes the
backup to fail completely every time.

My Question is. Has anyone seen this before?
