Hi,
We are seeing save.exe crash (sometimes) when doing a block level backup,
and was wondering if anyone has run into this.
Configuration:
Windows 2003 32-bit (20GB RAM—appeared to be accessed via PAE)
NetWorker 7.5.4.1
Using Timefinder to snapshot Symmetrix volume, and back up at a block level
using save command on the backup server (save -c <clientname> -e "4 Days" -s
<nsr_server> -b "weekly" -N <clientname>-D_<arrayed>:B12_\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE13
-LL \\.\PHYSICALDRIVE13)
Error:
Some backups fail with the following error, which we captured via “save –D9”
debug option. Many succeed, and most succeed upon add’l attempts.
Save –D9 shows the following:

Thoughts:
1. Remove RAM, could be an odd interaction with PAE memory access
mechanism. We are going to try to get the system down to 2 or 4GB of RAM.
2. Disable any unnecessary processes
3. Continue to work with EMC support, they are still working on
determining what the error indicates.
Anyone have any other thoughts?
