We are in the process of upgrading our backup system. First of all our system
is small. We don't have any storage nodes and only backup 18 systems in all
for a total of about 2.5 TB/week.

The old system is Networker 7.5.1 on Windows 2003 R2 with an AIT-4 tape library.

The new system on a different server will be Networker 7.6.1 on Windows 2008 R2
(64 bit) with a new LTO-4 library.

I'm not particularly concerned with copying most of the setup from the old
server but I would like to preserve continuity in the Clients and Client ID's
and I would like to copy the directives from the old backup server. I think
the rest of it will be easy enough to recreate manually. Is there any way to
copy those parts easily, especially the Client ID's? Keep in mind I can only
do a network copy, not a restore from a backup to the new server.

Eventually we will attach the old AIT-4 library to the new server as well and
move archived (not real NetWorker Archives though) to the LTO-4 format. Any
advice there?

If anyone has any advice to offer on this or anything else that may apply
please feel free to offer it. The big switchover will be this Friday.

Thanks,
Dave
