Sure is.

No, not really ...

You can certainly "import" tapes made on a different Networker server. I
do it all the time ...

>From your source NW server, run an mminfo report, being sure to show
client,clientid,volume,name,ssflags,sumflags.

C:\>mminfo -s admnman004 -avot -q
"client=~nt_san1-1,savetime>05/24/2007,savetime<06/15/2007,name='H:\Users',level=full"

-r volume(11),
ssid,name(8),savetime(22),ssbrowse(22),ssretent(22),ssflags,sumflags,sumsize(2),totalsize(2)

volume ssid name date time browse time
retention time ssflags fl size total
897597 2706858332 H:\Users 05/25/2007 06:21:16 PM 11/28/2010 06:13:41
PM 11/29/2010 01:33:26 PM vrF tr 101 GB 394 GB
915813 2706858332 H:\Users 05/25/2007 06:21:16 PM 11/28/2010 06:13:41
PM 11/29/2010 01:33:26 PM vrF hr 210 GB 394 GB

See the "h" in the "sumflags" column? That means this is the first volume
that holds this saveset, and the volume with the "sumflags" value of "t"
is the last volume in the sequence.

So, on the destination NW server:

Create a client with the same name, *and* the same clientid, on your
destination server. You can assign it a dummy IP in your hosts file (I use
10.254.254.x). Then scan in the tapes in, in sequence.

Scanner -i -S ssid

Starting with volume 915813, and give it volume 897597 when it asks for
the next tape in sequence. Doing this rebuilds the client file index.

You'll probably need to create a group and pool of the same names as the
source NW server.

It's easiest if you want just one saveset. If you need multiple savesets,
you can just scan the whole tape with "scanner -i".

The important thing: create clients with the exact same clientid on your
destination server, and also groups and pools. That way, when you scan the
tape, all that info goes into the same place as it does on the source
server.
