The only way I could think of is to put the networker client on the esx host
and back it up that way. Not sure how the vm would react if you just restore
the vmdk though from this backup.

Subject: [Networker] VM image level backup without VCB ?

Hi,

We'll be adding a few virtual servers (ESX & Hyper-V) soon to our backup
infrastructure (Networker version 7.5.1.4) .

Here are the questions I have:

- Is it possible to backup a virtual machine's image (.vmdk file) without using
VCB proxy ? We are going to use 'Virtual Edition Client" license per physical
box.
If so, can I backup the .vmdk files while the virtual machine is running ?

Please advice.
